An Orchid Fairytale

The orchid family has fascinated me for a long time. They are very unique plants. The species depicted in this photo: Autumn Lady’s-tresses, is rare in The Netherlands. The flowers spiral up the stem making this orchid very distinctive. It is also one of the latest orchids to flower. They bloom in late summer. I love photographing them at first light when the rising sun casts a warm glow over the landscape. This picture was taken just after sunrise. The field was covered with fog and everything was saturated with dew. The ambiance was perfect! Looking through my marco lens I felt like I was immersed in a fairytale world for a moment.
